First Stop: An Ancient Ocean
Look at the Megalodon Molars that are found in West Java, Indonesia. About 20 million years ago the regions that are today dry were part of warm marine ecosystems. Megalodons, as well as numerous other marine species, inhabited the seas of prehistoric times.
Like modern sharks Megalodon continually produced and lost teeth. Some of the teeth were later buried in marine sediments. If the conditions are suitable burial could protect the teeth sufficient time to permit fossilization.
